SPORTS MASSAGE IN CENTRAL LONDON

Despite the name, you don't have to play a sport to book a Sports Massage. Most of the people I see are simply active. They lift weights, run, cycle, play sport or train a few times a week and occasionally reach the point where something feels particularly tight, tired or overworked. I offer Sports Massage in Soho and Liverpool Street, with every session adapted around your training, activity and how your body feels on the day.

WHEN TRAINING STARTS TO CATCH UP WITH YOU

Some muscle soreness after training is perfectly normal. But there are times when your legs continue to feel heavy, your back never quite loosens up or the same tight area keeps making itself known every time you train. Those are common reasons people book a Sports Massage. You might also simply enjoy having regular massage alongside your training. There doesn't have to be a particular problem before you come in.

WHAT WE CAN FOCUS ON

A runner and someone who spends four days a week lifting weights are unlikely to need the same treatment. Runners often ask me to spend more time on calves, quads, hamstrings, glutes and hips. With strength training, the areas people want worked can vary considerably depending on their programme and the exercises they've been doing. That's why the session starts with a conversation rather than a routine. Tell me what you've been training, what feels particularly worked and whether there's an area you'd like me to concentrate on. From there, I'll tailor the treatment accordingly.

WHAT DOES SPORTS MASSAGE FEEL LIKE?

Sports Massage tends to be more focused than a traditional relaxation massage, but that doesn't mean it needs to be brutally painful. I can use firmer pressure where appropriate and spend more time on areas that need attention, while adjusting the treatment according to how your body responds. If something feels unnecessarily uncomfortable, tell me. There's no prize for surviving the deepest massage possible.

A MASSAGE THERAPIST WHO UNDERSTANDS TRAINING

I'm also a personal trainer, so a large part of my working life is spent around strength training and exercise. That makes conversations with active clients much easier. If you tell me your lats are tight after pull-ups, your quads are still feeling your last squat session or your shoulders have had enough pressing for one week, I know exactly what you're talking about. It also gives me a practical understanding of training load, exercise selection and the way different activities place different demands on the body.

SPORTS MASSAGE FOR RUNNERS

Running is repetitive by nature, and runners commonly ask me to work on their calves, thighs, glutes and hips. Your Sports Massage doesn't automatically need to cover the entire body. If your legs are the reason you've booked, we can use the appointment to give them most of our attention. The same principle applies to cycling and other activities where particular muscle groups are doing a lot of repeated work.

SPORTS MASSAGE FOR GYM & STRENGTH TRAINING

If you lift weights regularly, your treatment can be planned around what you've been doing in the gym. Sometimes that's a broader session after a heavy training period. Other times you may want most of the appointment spent on one or two areas that have been feeling particularly tight. You can also combine massage with Assisted Stretching if stiffness and movement are part of what you want to work on.

SPORTS MASSAGE & CUPPING

I can incorporate Cupping Therapy into a Sports Massage where I think it's appropriate and you're comfortable with it. It's an additional technique rather than something everyone needs. If you're curious about cupping, we can discuss it before the treatment.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A SPORTS MASSAGE?

There isn't a correct frequency. Some people book only when they feel they need it. Others who train regularly prefer an appointment every few weeks as part of their routine. It depends on how often you train, what you're doing and, ultimately, whether you find regular treatment useful. I'm not interested in putting you on a treatment schedule you don't need.
