DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE IN CENTRAL LONDON

If you've ever had a massage and spent most of it wishing the therapist would use a little more pressure, Deep Tissue Massage may be more your thing. It's a slower, firmer and more focused style of massage, particularly suited to people who enjoy deeper pressure or want extra attention given to areas that feel persistently tight. I offer Deep Tissue Massage in Soho and Liverpool Street, right in the centre of London.

WHAT IS DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE?

The simplest explanation is that we spend more time working gradually and firmly into areas of muscular tension rather than keeping everything light and flowing. That doesn't mean pressing as hard as possible. Different parts of the body tolerate pressure differently, and different people enjoy very different levels of intensity. I adjust the treatment throughout rather than deciding beforehand that “deep tissue” has to mean maximum pressure everywhere.

WHY PEOPLE BOOK DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

A lot of clients come in because there's one area they can constantly feel. It might be the upper back after a long working week, shoulders that always seem tense, tired legs after training or general stiffness that makes them feel like they need a proper massage. Others don't have a particular complaint at all. They simply prefer a firmer massage. Both are perfectly good reasons to book.

DEEP DOESN'T HAVE TO MEAN PAINFUL

This is probably the biggest misconception about Deep Tissue Massage. A treatment can be firm without becoming an endurance test. More pressure isn't automatically more effective, and there's no benefit in spending the session trying not to jump off the table. I'll check the pressure with you, particularly when working on more sensitive areas. You can ask for more or less at any point. The aim is to find the level that feels right for you.

WE DON'T HAVE TO TREAT EVERYTHING EQUALLY

A massage doesn't have to mean spending exactly ten minutes on every part of your body. If your upper back, neck and shoulders are the reason you've booked, it makes sense to give them more of the session. If it's your legs after a heavy period of training, we can concentrate there instead. That flexibility is one of the reasons I prefer tailoring each treatment rather than following a fixed sequence.

DEEP TISSUE FOR DESK-BASED WORK

Back, neck and shoulder tension is particularly common among clients who spend most of their working day at a computer. Massage can't change the fact that you have a desk job, but it can give you time away from that position and allow us to work directly on the areas that feel tight. If you work around Soho or the City of London, appointments can easily be fitted around your working day.

DEEP TISSUE FOR PEOPLE WHO TRAIN

If you exercise regularly, Deep Tissue Massage can also be used to focus on muscles that feel particularly worked or tight. Because I'm also a personal trainer, you can tell me exactly what you've been doing in the gym without needing to translate it into massage terminology. If your main reason for booking is closely related to training, you may also want to consider Sports Massage.

DEEP TISSUE OR SPORTS MASSAGE?

There's naturally some crossover. I'd generally choose Deep Tissue if your priority is a firm massage with focused work on muscle tension. Sports Massage makes more sense when the session is specifically connected to your training, sport or activity. You don't need to worry too much about choosing between them. Tell me what you want from the treatment and I can help.
